The Ludlow Formation in Southbank is inspired by the nearby "haunting" Princes Walk Vaults and the Banana Alley Vaults along the Yarra River’s edge.
All structure is clearly expressed - services are carefully integrated but fully exposed with the notion of concealment avoided. Through the use of exposed blockwork, recycled parquetry timber, custom built furniture, steel window detailing and custom lighting, the experiential qualities of each space within the tenancy combine as a whole but disguise the vastness of the tenancy and filter views within the venue.
Intended to be used as a traditional public bar, a lounge bar, and a restaurant, the layout aims to cater to a broad demographic and responds to the client brief for spatial flexibility. Various spaces are defined by bar areas, sliding doors and a series of curtains that isolate, encapsulate, or open up spaces for adaptability depending on the operator’s requirements
